Fraternal brothers and sisters,
This will be my first message to the Men and Women of Jacksonville Beach Moose Lodge 1558 and WOTM Chapter 1381. First, I would like to thank our past Governor, Ron Bostic, for maintaining the necessary leadership in keeping our Lodge moving forward this past year. Ron had a tough job and handled it extremely well. Our membership grew to over 200 members (a first), fans were installed as well as a speaker system for our television.

Social Quarters - Remember that our bartenders have the last word when it comes to anything happening in the Social Quarters. When they ask for your Moose Card, please show it, or have your sponsor sign you in as a guest. This is not a bartender request, it is a requirement by Moose. The televisions are provided for everyone's enjoyment, however, if a conflict arises because of 2 or more persons arguing over a television show, they will be turned off. The volume is controlled by the bartender and if there is a Band, DJ, or someone is playing the Juke Box, the volume will be turned off.

The Legionnaires of 1558 held their first fundraiser of 2013 "Bringing back the 50s" on May 11. Although we didn't have as large a turn-out that they hoped, they still raised $357.50. Thanks to all who gave their time and effort in putting this event on.

The beaches Toastmasters hold their meetings at the Lodge every Monday at 7:00pm, and their numbers are increasing. The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. --- and they have fun doing it! Another great community service project for Your lodge.

I'm sure everyone know by now that our 60" and newest television is not working. Great News, I've talked with VIZIO and we will be receiving a replacement television Thursday May 30th.

I would like to see more events at the lodge for our seniors and children. If you have any ideas please submit them at the Lodge Meeting or let one of your officers know about it. We are still looking for people to step up and chair some of our committee's. Just because you're the chair, doesn't mean you have to do it all by yourself. We just need to have a central point of contact to make sure everything that needs to be accomplished is done.

It is important that we keep this forward momentum. As you can see it take a lot of effort by many to make your lodge work. If you have any ideas for dinners, fundraisers, community service projects, special events or constructive criticism. PLEASE attend your lodge planning meetings after our monthly lodge meeting. Our regular board meetings, house committee meeting and lodge meetings will be held on Wednesdays. Check back on our "Weekly Events" calendar for dates and times. Fraternally Yours,
